💛 The “Waiting Place”: Why So Many People Feel Stuck — and How We Move Forward

In Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, Dr. Seuss introduces “The Waiting Place”—a moment where life pauses and nothing feels like it’s moving.
It’s meant to be metaphorical, but most people end up experiencing a version of it in real life.

In my work as a therapist, the Waiting Place often shows up as:

  • Athletes waiting for confidence or performance to return

  • Adults with ADHD waiting for motivation or clarity

  • People with depression waiting to “feel like themselves” again

  • Anxious minds waiting for reassurance or certainty

  • High achievers waiting to feel capable, prepared, or “enough”

The individual stories vary, but the emotional experience is strikingly similar:
stalled, overwhelmed, uncertain, and unsure how to move forward.

The encouraging part?
The Waiting Place is never permanent.

Therapy provides a space to understand what your Waiting Place is signalling — and what you need to step out of it. Together, we work on practical tools, emotional insight, and structured steps that help rebuild momentum and confidence.

If you find yourself in your own Waiting Place, you’re not alone — and you’re not stuck forever.
